How do I keep track of unusual excercises?

Hi fitbit users,

I just entered your community. I am still figuring out how to use the tracker, and I don't understand how I can create manual activities and still have relatively accurate calories burned.

I am going to (beginners) ballet 2 days / week, where the exercised are hard, but with almost no movement. I guess it is similar to Pilates or Yoga. Almost all your muscles are used continuously just for maintaining ballance...

How can I enter this and evaluate the calories burned?

Same, 3 days/week I do a training with a PT, for getting strenght and increasing muscular mass, but how could I set this excercise in my activities?

Thanks

Ana

Ballet is listed in the activities. So I would manually log it

As for the PT. not knowing what all is involved I cant answer.

When I go to mine to me its not worth counting

When I do activities besides running, walking and weights, I use the workout function. It will estimate the calories at least as well as an estimate, and it's less trouble.

@AnaCat: it would help if you mentioned what Fitbits you are using. As @GershonSurge noted, several Fitbits (e.g. Surge, Blaze, Charge 2, to name a few) will let you record an activity type labelled as "WORKOUT". Like him, I use it for everything "unusual".

As to what you’re doing with your PT, if it’s resistance training, the same Fitbits I mentioned above include an activity type labelled as "WEIGHTS".

Anyway, I wouldn’t stress too much about this. There are 24 hours in a day and 7 days in a week: your Fitbit is pretty good at figuring out your total energy expenditure during all that time, even if you don’t specifically log every single "unusual" activity.
