I am active (run three miles in the morning, work all day, goof around with children in the evening while I do housework but getting above 20000 steps per day seems elusive to me. Help!

Hi,
I almost made 20,000 steps today. I ran 4.5 miles, travelled throughout the high school, and went grocery store.
I swear wearing the fitbit makes me move more.

I have gotten over 20k a couple of times, but I have yet to hit 25k. Yesterday we spent 4 hours at the zoo- that got me 14k, then with my normal stuff around the house, I was up to 18k.
Today I am working from home, which absolutely kills my steps. I have a 90 page document that needs to be reviewed, so I'm attempting to put it on my ipad so that I can review while walking on the treadmil. I may only be walking at 2.5-3.0mph, but it's better than sitting on my butt.

I've only managed 25K once - ran a half marathon that day!

I was out hiking in the countryside all day yesterday and went to be with 28,500-ish steps on the clock. Some people on my challenges seem to hit that level every day. Seems pretty crazy to me!

I usually walk 22,000 steps a day. The only way to make the step count is to put on some great music or a movie and jog on the spot for at least 30 minutes of each hour!

At the beginning try to divide your lunch in half. Walk the first half fast arround parking lot. You'll be surprised how many steps it adds to your daily total. Also, if you arrive at work 10 or 15 mins early, spend this time walking.

I really want to reach above 20,000! I already walk everywhere as it is but I had not considered the treadmill. Maybe I should visit the gym more often.

I finally made over 20,000 steps between running in the morning, walking at work, and I took an 30 min insanity class at the gym.

The one day that I made 20K I took 4 days classes and when I saw that I was near that mark I walked in circles around my room for a few hundred more steps.
I don't expect to do that daily; 10k is about 4.4 miles and some days I don't make that. The logging of food helps soooooooo much. I'm eating more greens and lot's of veggies. Healthy food=healthier body.
The weight is coming off and the muscles are stronger. Nice feeling. 4.4 more lbs to go to meet my 13 lbs. gone goal. If the belly fat is still bugging me I may aim for a total of 18 lbs. I'm in healthy weight zone but the fat is on my tum and I want to empty out those fat cells so I like my profile once again.
Best of fitness to you all,
Barb

You should be able to get to that goal. I have done 26K+ in the past year one day but I did run twice that day, walk around my resort I manage and do several holiday home exit cleans.
The moment I sit in the office to do bookwork it becomes a less active day. Then I have to go to an aerobics class around 5.30pm to reach my goal of 10K. On average I have been doing 13K per day but my Fitbit is not working any more so now I have to motivate myself. It's very hard when you have a family to put aside so much time for yourself; I'm lucky my family is grown up. I can almost please myself when and how I exercise.

If you are on the treadmill...try walk, then run, increase the speed, lower the speed for about 30 minutes...then take a Spin Class later....20k plus...

My daughter, who is a nurse, reminds me often to be careful on the treadmill as she recently treated someone who fell and was injured severely. Here are her suggestions:
1. No alcohol.
2. No baggy clothing or dangling hair.
3. Use the safely device.
4. Have a phone close.
5. Avoid using if you are alone, if possible.
