Freezing and snow are not problems in themselves, icy (and therefore slippery) roadways may be. With proper gear, you can walk and run in winter too. I live in Finland, by the way Smiley Happy

I hate to tell you this, but I live in Florida.  The hardest thing is to keep moving and yes, even in Florida.  Doing activity such as jumping jacks, jump squats, lunges, dancing ... those are good in the house.  Taking a walk in the snow when it is not raining is another good way.  I really miss the snow.

We've had a very unusual winter so far in Southern Finland: it's hardly freezing and there's no snow at all. It will get colder and we will get snow, probably later on in January.

Most of my exercise takes place inside - I go to Boot Camp, Zumba class and cardio dance as well. If it is too icey/snowy to drive, I to the ABS Diet workout (on DVD). I have bad knees so  running or walking too much is a no-no per my orthopedist.

Winter is the niceist time ouside where I live.  In the summer when it's really hot, I'll do walking loops inside a large, two story mall (and it has AC!)

I say no excuses unless it's a blizzard outiside.  If you don't keep a routine, at least for me, I get lazy and it's easier to quit.  The cold air really wakes you up and sometimes when it's snowing out it feels like you are walking in a snowglobe and is beautiful out.

I use a treadmill when I can't get outside because of the winter...it's more the dark that stops me running. I run alone and I am in the country with no street lights

I pull out different workout DVDs.  Today, I did Jillian Michael's "Extreme Shred."  I also got "Just Dance 2014" and have been dancing to that lately.  It's a nice change up from the treadmill!

Greetings from the US!

What kind of gear do you have? I am debating wheter I should invest into some cleats for my shoes with the snow and ice or not!

I am looking into Yak Traks. Do you know if they help with the ice?

I like the variety you incorporate into your routine, I have always wanted to try Zumba!

Good idea to walk at the mall! You also get your dose of people watching in 😛

That is very true. It is hard for me when there is ice on the roads. Still, there is nothing else better than being outside!

I also use the treadmill, at least until the ice is off the roads. Do you have to bring a flashlight with you?
