Saw this on Facebook and thought I'd post it here. It's from Prevention Magazine and seems to have some good tips in it:

I started walking a year ago after I stepped on the scale and saw 230 pounds I told myself I need to do something now and so I decided to start walking and when I did I started just going down to the end of our street and than worked my way up to walking around the block and I started with just 15 minutes at a time and than worked my way up to 30 minutes at a time and now I'm walking between 5-8 miles (weather premitting) and I'm usually gone around 2 hours and I'm going up and down hills as well. I'm proud of what I've done so far I started out at 230 pounds and I'm now down 17.4 pounds and down to 212.6 my goal weight is 150 pounds and I know I can do it just like anyone else. Please feel free to add me as a friend and we can cheer each other.
