How can I get rid of stomach fat? I workout and do situps but I can't get rid of my stomach fat and it almost looks a little like cellulite on one side of my stomach.

Unfortunately, you can't chose where you lose fat from your body. Genetic makeup and individual anatomy dictate where your body preferentially stores fat. For some poeple its legs/butt, others its more evenly distributed all over the body. All you can do is lose overall weight.
Likewise with situps. They won't burn fat from your belly any more effectively than leg or arm exercises. Exercise burns calories, which can help you lose weight - but only if you burn more calories than you eat. Situps will, however, help tone your core/ab muscles.

Situps only work certain portions of your abs. Though you cannot target to lose belly fat as has been mentioned earlier....you can sculpt your abs to make your belly area appear smaller. There are many free ab routines available online which offer full ab workout programs that work front, lower, and side muscles. One that I really love is on Youtube under Fitness Blender Crunchless Abs workout. I suggest mixing things up with regards to your abs. You will start to see definition and toning that regular situps and crunches will never give you. I know, I used to do situps and crunches only.....no more!!!
Additionally, examine your diet, sleep, and stress. Try to eat clean (whole foods, healthy fats, lower your carbs), get plenty of sleep, and lower stress if you can.

Situps, crunches, any ab exercise works the muscle to help build it, they have very little to do with the fat on top except you'd be burning slightly more calories than just sitting and watching TV. You lose fat by losing weight, ie; eating less calories than your total calorie expenditure. It won't matter how many sit ups you do, if there is fat on top... you won't see the muscle, definition, tone... whatever you want to call it. Nice abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym... meaning you have to lose weight by eating less to see them.

yep, it is difficult to give up those things we reach for such as sugar and bread. I am once again trying to stay away from it. I would like to lose 17 lbs to get my bmi back to normal range. Good luck all...

I have resudual flab around my middle that I would guess is why I am still about 8# over my ideal weight. It has driven me crazy BUT I think I am seeing results from running. Mind you this is a pure "mirror check" while I'm nude. (I look great clothed!) I began running about a year ago after recovering from orthopedic surgery. I have always HATED running, but enjoy the capability to do it. I know it sounds crazy. I think it's tightening up my midsection. My longest distance is only 5 miles; and that last mile was real ugly. Usually I keep it to 5K due to time constraints, and I am working on incresing my speed .1mph at a time.
So, I guess for me it's either run, or lipo. And my health plan won't pay for "beautification". 😉

Reduce your stress, reduce belly fat. Try yoga and meditation. When you are stressed your body releases cortisol, a hormone that increases belly fat. Excessive belly fat is also linked to increased risk of some cancers so we have plenty of reason beyond vanity to keep belly fat in check.
I don't know your age, but as women age we gain more belly fat. Our bodies change. For me, I do as much as I can, and then I exercise a little acceptance (otherwise, I'd be depressed, mourning the body of my youth).

Take the time spent on such little muscles that burn little and need little repair, and spend the time doing deadlifts 3 x weekly, with other full-body lifting programs. Make all the muscle more active and stronger, and much bigger than those little muscles. Besides, deadlifts will use your core, you'll be surprised what you have missed doing specific things for it.

Heybales,
Good point. I read as much in New Rules for Lifting for Women. Programs focused on larger groups and exercises that called on groups of muscle rather than single muscle. Thanks for the reminder.

Getting tone starts with what you put in your body. Fruit, veggies and lean meat is what you want a lot of and five small meals a day. I have tried everything this has worked best for me in toning down and getting muscle definition. I have lost 19 lbs and gotten a lot more muscle tone just from eating right I haven’t spent a minute in the gym. I have also heard drinking 3-4 cups of green tea a day helps slim you down I drink green tea but cannot say if it has helped with weight loss but I recommend everyone to start drinking any kind of tea it is a life changer.

So you had to revive a two-year-old topic only to include a promotional link for some "cupping glass", and not in the language used on this forum?
There is no way to "spot-reduce" fat, so aerobic exercise or food rich in fiber may contribute to reducing your overall body fat (however, the determining factor is to be in a caloric deficit), but it will not target specifically belly fat.

Lots of cardio(elliptical, spin bike, running and walking) along with the right foods will help you reduce body fat overall, including your stomach fat. It won't happen quickly.

That's not enough. Stomach fat is very very stubborn. It will take 2 or more hours of cardio and weight lifting plus eating the right carbs, fiber and protein to see those abs pop out. And consume no alcohol.
