ISO Fitbit Competition

First time poster. Sorry if this is  posted in the wrong spot.

Been using the Fitbit Alta for a couple years now. Before used Jawbone Up.

My daily average steps is over 19,000 and I never miss my 10k goal or haven't in 6months anyway when I needed to attend meetings in the office. I am always at the top of my leaderboard. How do you connect with people who walk/run enough to offer some real completion?

@dhoffman1421 — I don’t do step competitions as much as I used to because excessive stepping was crowding out some of my other activities, but to find people that are closer to your level I have two suggestions.

1.  Change your privacy settings for steps from “friends” to “public” so that when people check your profile they can see what your level is.  This may result in random friend invitations.  You might also update your pubic profile to indicate you are looking for some friendly step competition from others who like to step in the “____ to _____” step range (you fill in the blanks).

2.  Join fitbit groups (click “community” at the top of the fitbit.com dashboard, activity groups are the third option). They each have a monthly leaderboard that will rank you with everyone else even if you aren’t “friends” yet.  From there, send friend invitations to the 10 or 20 who fall immediately above and below you on the leaderboard until you’ve got enough new fitbit friends to start some challenges. “2018 Miles in 2018” is a somewhat active group you could start with.

That should get you started.  Happy Stepping, and don’t get too crazy!

I'm apart of numerous challenges every week.  Two of them I host on my own.  One is for people who I know are frequent high-steppers, so they can be in competition with each other.  The other group are people who take in lower steps, usually less than 10K a day, in hopes that they can perhaps win.

I, personally, am not particularly interested in winning each week, but I do try to meet my step goal every day unless I'm just really tired and need a little break.  I just like bringing my friends together and encouraging others, and seeing others meet their health and wellness goals.
