Idita-Walk 2016

The Idita-Walk is an event to promote physical fitness in the spirit of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race. The Iditarod Sled Dog Race is 1,049 miles long, beginning in Anchorage, Alaska and finishing in Nome, Alaska! To complete the Idita-Walk, simply walk an average of 30 minutes a day for 35 days between February 1, 2016 to March 31, 2016 for a total of 1,049 minutes. The Idita-Walk challenge begins February 1st and ends March 31st. Over the course of two months, you make it your personal mission - with the support of others - to walk for 1,049 minutes! By registering for this event, you are supporting the Nome Community Center, which provides a variety of services to residents of Nome, Alaska and surrounding communities. Find out more about the Nome Community Center by visiting www.nomecc.org. Registration will close at the end of February! To register for this walking event: https://www.flipcause.com/secure/event_step2/Mzg5NQ==/1367 If there are sufficient people interested in forming a Fitbit, Idita-Walk group, I'll be happy to open one.

This must be a different one?

I normally sign up for the one that supports the Boy Scouts. Are they not doing it this year?

Hi Wendy,

This used to be the Nome Boy Scouts' fund raiser.   I'm not sure why they're no longer doing it, and it's now a fund raiser for the Nome Community Center.

I did this walk regularly for several years, and am looking forward to participating again this year.
