Insanity workout calorie burn

I have done a few Insanity rounds already and I know I am burning a ton of calories in 40 minutes. I just started using the Force and it's showing I burned only 175 calories in 40 minutes. Are you kidding me!!! What is it basing it on.. the number of steps I am taking???? This isn't even accurate.. and let's not get into trying to keep this thing on my wrist... buying the o-rings is the only thing that helps. Is anyone having issues with correct number of calories burnt during a workout. I'm tempted to send this thing back. I used to have a Mio which gave an accurate read but I had issues with that watch and had to send it back.

The fitbit is not a HRM. It only estimates calories burned based on how fast your arm is moving.

Only a HRM like a Polar or Garmin, etc can tell you what you've burned with any degree of accuracy.

But as long as you are not eating back those calories, you don't need to worry about being accurate. Being consistant is more important.

You need to log your workout as an activity:

Before I purchased a fitbit (currently a Charge owner), I found http://insanitycalories.com/ to manually log a more accurate calorie burn for my insanity workouts back when I used MapMyRun to log my workouts.

It's an extra step, but it's much more accurate than the walking estimation a non-HR tracker will give you.

I like it because it gives you three levels of "intensity" to modify your estimate, and even the highest numbers on the insanitycalroies website are lower than the estimations from other sites (http://www.fitcornernetwork.com/insanity-calories-burned)

Grains of salt everywhere, but insanitycalories is my preferred method of estimation.
