Is 47-53 a normal resting heart rate for a 17 year old girl?

I’m not the most active type, I just started doing exercise but not a lot. I go on a 20-30 minute walk/jog every other day and I only started this about a week ago...I weigh around 195-200 Lbs and my resting heart rate is usually around 47-53 and yesterday after my jog my heart rate peaked at 187 bpm. Is this normal for someone my age?

Hi @Emmyawesome - Congratulations on starting a walking routine! That’s definitely a good start. But it would be best for you to address your question to your family doctor. It’s always a good idea to check with a doctor when starting a new diet or exercise program. Ask your parents to schedule a wellness exam. You can ask the doctor then.

P.S. I’m moving your post to Get Moving forum where you are likely to get more responses and encouragement.
