Is there any way to share my daily steps using the app (without relying on facebook or twitter)?
My wife, friends and family all use FitBit and it has become very competitive on who has the most steps. This is actually very good as the winner usually changes each day. Since we are all hundreds of miles apart, is there a way on the Phone App to see each others daily steps?

Aren't you friends with each others? You should see your Fitbit friends' step ranking in the mobile app, unless they have opted out of ranking.

Ranking is based on weekly steps not daily, looking for daily steps.

Sorry, I overlooked your need to compare daily steps. There's nothing built-in for that in Fitbit AFAIK.
The rolling 7-day step count is a better indicator IMO, since it evens out differences in schedules etc.
Fitbit has an API that allows programmers to do quite amazing things. For instance, you can download all your raw Fitbit data into a Google Drive spreadsheet. If one of you is geeky enough, maybe you can continue from there.

Which Ranking ? If it is the Friends it is ........
The Friends totals are a running 6 day steps plus today until midnight when the 7th day drops off.
The Friends daily average is based on the last 7 full days from midnight last night.
So comparing Friends is real time to the last sync off the Friends

Can you see the Friends daily totals on the App through the Fitbitters Profile ?. I'm not linked to an iPhone. If so, that would give real time daily comparison. Probably means pen and paper though.
