43k a day. A good or bad thing?

Depends on the person, it's not a whole lot for a practiced endurance walker/jogger/runner, particularly when the time frame is only over a week. .

Hi @Darryl.curtis,
Not enough information to tell. What does Fitbit reports as your Cardio Fitness score?

Sorry, but 43k genuine steps a day in average over the whole week is a lot, whether you’re a walker or a runner. It basically means you’re dedicating your day getting your steps. These people most likely don’t have a job, even one that presumably involves being on your feet all the time (like the proverbial mailman or busy waiter). I personally wouldn’t bother comparing myself to "friends" who average 300+ steps every week.
A weekly step count of 100k is very respectable for someone with a real job and a real life.

Hi all
Yes mine is 109k for a week average. With full time office job
The other 300k for a week is a 72 year old woman who doesn't work
I'd estimate that 43k steps is around 20 miles a day...

Unfortunate that so many people think a day is only 5 or 6 hours long. Also unfortunate that so many people think that they can define what a 'real life' or a 'real job' is for other people.

There are many ways you can AVERAGE 43k steps per day for a week and still hold a job, even though I have never done it myself. I have a job that allows me to keep moving through much of the day and I often get up to 70-80k steps a week at work. There are plenty of others that are on their feet at work more than me.
As for working out, there are thousands and thousands of people around the world that compete in ultra racing (any race longer than a marathon). Most of them still show up for work around their training, but find time to get long workouts in their schedule. They may do 150k steps on the weekend, which is not uncommon for these athletes.
I would question whether doing 43k step average is a healthy lifestyle if you do it every day. The body does need time to recover. But it is possible for a working person to do it.
Unfortunately, there are still some people that feel compelled to cheat with their Fitbit, too.

@Darryl.curtis... hey there.. I don't know if the question is good or bad, healthy or too much. It is more a question of does it fit your lifestyle and do you feel good before and after. For me that would be too much. I average 17K steps a day. That is with walking around 6K with my dogs before work and the rest at the gym in the evening. I have a sedentary job so I get maybe 1000 steps during the day. On the weekend I get around 22K and by the end of the day, I am ready to be done. I am tired. So for me, 43 would be exhausting and painful. The whole stepping, fitness, stuff is so personal and no two people are going to answer this the same...
