Jumping rope help

ANSWERED

Hi guys,

Anybody else addicted to this amazing fat burning activity? I run a 10k in 40 minutes but jumping rope absolutely floors me!

Anybody got any tips on how to criss-cross with the jump rope?

Jumping rope is an excellent way to burn those extra calories!!

I never jump rope but you got me thinking about starting again. I would start with just a couple of minutes and build my way up if I where you.

Your body can handle more than your mind thinks it can.

I used to jump rope, but ended up pulling an Achilles tendon. I recommend starting with a very few reps a day at first and using a heavy rope that spins slower. By few, I mean about 20.

Always jump on a padded surface, or you can get some good shin splints.

There are many good YouTube videos on technique.

I suggest videotaping yourself and playing it back in slow motion.

I jumped some when I was taking boxing, but since then haven't done it. I do remember slapping myself silly with the rope, so not sure I can offer any advice on technique. Kudos to you though for doing the activity- it is awesome cardio.
