Hey everyone. I'm trying to lose and get my body in shape. But as I get older it gets harder and harder. I actually can't step as much as I'd like due to a foot problem, but I'm working up to it, and doing activities like aqua jogging, pilates, and weight training. I even tried a step class. Looking for support and to motivate others!
Best wishes.

You didn't say your age and I would never ask a lady that question. However, as we get older our BMR drops and so we burn fewer calories when we are at rest or doing day to day activities. As a mature trainer of 60 years, I can say that you need to mix your exercises to have both Aerobic and Weight-based as part of your routine. The weight-based exercises are good for keeping muscle tone and so will help keep your BMR higher. The Aerobic exercises will burn the calories (stating the obvious). Try a split routine with Aerobics on one day then a rest day then weights bearing exercises the next. If you have a foot problem can you use a hand bike or a stationary bike? Weight wise stick to simple complex exercises if possible like bench press squats working bigger muscle groups will give you the best return on your efforts. You won't build big muscles you don't have the testosterone you should firm up and burn more calories while going about your day to day activities. Use the mirror not the scales as water can have a big effect on your weight and that can lead to loss of motivation. Hope This Helps Good Luck.

Have you tried Essentrics? It's a low-impact exercise based on dance, tai chi and physio. I don't know how accurate it is, but I can burn 200 calories in a 60 minute session (I don't weigh very much and am very active) under the "workout" mode of my Versa. I'm the youngest person in my class - there are people in my group who are well into their 70s and one or two with arthritis or somewhat limited mobility
