Did you mean:

Leslie Sansone

I have been doing these walking workouts. but my flex is only recording about half of what I do. If I go in to activity tracker to log the other half in, it still doesn't add the miles or the steps. I'm still getting the beneficial workout, but if the fitbit is not accurate, what's the point in wasting the time or money. How do I add the other half of my workouts?

I'm having the same issue. It seems that some of her movements don't register on the fitbit. I think some people recommend filing the workout under aerobics, but I'm not sure that would provide an accurate number either since it's a combo of aerobics and steps that are missing. It's frustrating.

You are going at a different stride when doing these. Even Leslie herself say's on her Blog that a Pedometer will not match the Miles she says you are doing.

I just go with it and don't add more.

This is a tricky one @SunsetRunner Smiley Tongue

My 2 cents, you can choose to log this as an aerobic activity for the most accurate caloric burn; but your tracked steps will take a hit as @WendyB mentioned that your stride length is different on the routine. The other option is to leave your tracked data as is, but setting an activity through the tracker (tapping in when you begin and tapping out when you are done) will give you the specific steps, distance and caloric burn from your tracked data.

Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions Smiley Very Happy

Hi punkstammy, I have a Fitbit One that is pretty accurate with steps. If I take 200 carefully counted steps it undercounts a few, like it would say I took 195 steps. The distance when I walk outside is within .1 of a mile (I did calibrate my stride settings though). But with Leslie workouts... The steps and mileage never add up to what is claimed. When my Fitbit one is off by a tenth of a mile it is often over by that. With Leslie and really most walking workouts it is under very significantly. I do not think these workouts actually have the exact step count for the mileage advertised. I looked into it and learned that Leslie's distance is based on the beats per minute of the music. Some of the "steps" take more than one BPM to complete. Also about the distance, it is based on an assumption you get a mile for a certain number of steps. This is not true. People often think they should get a mile for 2000 steps, but that really depends on how big those steps were. I need more like 2,500 steps for a mile as I am short. My One tracks Leslue workouts fine, the calorioe burn is usually a little higher than my heart rate monitor credits for these, but not much higher. I don't have a Flex, I do have other wrist-worn fitbits and they actually count more steps for alot of activities. I haven't compared them with Leslie, but if you are doing the upper body movements I think they would count more. I find my wrist worn count less when pushing a shopping cart or holding railings.

Maybe it is in how you are walking in place/moving your arms? I have done Leslie's workouts a few times since I got my Fitbit Flex and it tracks pretty accurately for me as far as steps/distance, ends up being just a little under a mile each time I do the one mile walk.

I've found that if I move around just a bit while doing Leslie's DVD that I get better accuracy.

I also figure that the inaccuracy compensates for the fact that I probably still underestimate my caloric intake.  (Despite weighing and measuring my food.)

I just bought one of her DVDs last night. I lost a good amount of weight using a similar sort of "walk inside" program that WW used to sell. I will track it on my Charge and see how it goes. Will post later.

I have been a Leslie Sansone fan for years but I noticed I had to do a total of 8 miles to get to 9,000 steps. When I walk outside, 10K steps takes 1.5 - 1.75 hours. A similar, although not identical, amount of time.

So I added the fitbit app to my smartphone to see what was up with that.

The app indicates the steps are registering - you can watch them go up a step at a time.

I figure I can't trust that Leslie miles translate. If they did, your stride would have to be about 3 feet long.

Some dvds are better for step counts than others - like the Walk Slim Fast & Firm 4 Really Big Miles gives me more steps than the Walk at Home 5 mile Fat Burning Walk.

You can get an idea of which ones are better for accumulating steps by checking the steps on the daily dashboard graph, if you don't have the app.

It's kind of exhausting to use Leslie to get all your steps in but I figure I'm probably burning more calories than when I walk outside.

When I use Leslies Dvds I move around more then she does. When she walks in place I I go forward an back. When she goes side to side I do but moving forward and back. So moving around more logs more steps. In 30 minutes I logged 3000 steps.

In my opinion, people shouldn't be surprised if a pedometer behaves like a pedometer. Having said that, even the Zip is far ahead what was available at any price about 10 or 15 years ago. Personally, I focus on calories burned instead of steps. The Fitbit is consistently about 15% lower over a month compared to my Surge. Some months, the Zip counts more steps and other months, the Surge counts more.

I don't think any of the Fitbits will be absolutely precise for all situations. I feel all of them provide useful information.

I had the same problem and here is how I solved it.  I walk with Leslie Sansone but I don't wear my fit bit.  I then log my walking exercise as one mile, or two or whatever.  The fitbit dash board will then give you the steps that equal your walking mile.  Because my stride is measured at 18 inches, my mile is 3,000 something steps so that is what the log gives me.  Later, I sinc my fit bit and it adds those miles to my fitbit tracker.  It works.  If you want credit for a mile of steps then you have to work with the numbers.  For instance if I walk a mile with Leslie and I want 5,280 steps, I then log 1.5 miles and it is pretty close.  The issue is to not wear your tracker when you walk with her and later just sync it and it will be correct.  I hope this helps.
