Logging an exercise

I took off my fitbit when on the treadmill because I know that if holding on it will not track. I walked 2.49 miles in 45 minutes. Afterwards, I added it to the app on my computer. It says I only took 33 steps. Is this for real?

Thanks,

Hi Mindy - Can I ask if you have tried to continue to wear Fitbit whilst on treadmill as (pending on device) it will still monitor heart rate and may still log steps (even if it does not log steps the HR will calculate Cals Burnt - especially if you activate the treadmill option on device - alternatively can I ask a) have you set you stride length in the personal info under settings and did you fill out the (sorry if it sounds condescending) the correct boxes - I have just filled out a spare day with the info you provided (I used the walk symbol) and it has completed it with 5772 steps and 227 cals burnt (using my stride length of 27.4 inches) - that's with info that the system draws on from your heart rate - when filling boxes ensure that the day/start time and duration are as accurate as you can make it.

let me know if this helps at all

Kind Regards

I am not sure I follow why you would take your fitbit off. It will not track your steps as accurately as if you were not holding on, but it will still track your activity, give you active minutes and HR readings. If you are mostly concerned with steps, a wrist tracker may not be the best option. the zip might be since it clips to you and is not dependent on arm movements... just a thought.
