Looking for a fitness and weight loss buddy with similar goals.

I'm 61 with about 16 lbs. to lose. I'm looking for someone who is looking to lose a similar amount of weight through a combination of exercise and reduced food portions:

Someone who is:

- encouraging not competitive

 - willing to keep me accountable for my goals

- committed to their goals

- willing to push me out of my comfort zone by suggesting new ways exercising or eating

- comfortable using private messaging to communicate

Hi! I am looking for someone similar and posted an invitation last week to try a 75-day challenge with me. The criteria are in the post. I am 49 and want to lose 16 lbs. as well!! Even if you do not do the 75-day challenge, I would welcome the opportunity for us to be virtual weight loss buddies. Thanks.

Ally2390,

I'm not ready to take on the full challenge parameters, but would be
interested in doing a modified version of it and encouraging you in yours.

1. Drink 2 litres of water per day
2. Record what I eat while following a healthy diet plan
3. Exercise 30 min 6 days a week
4. Take a progress picture every day. (of one of the components)
5. Report/post photo to my fitness buddy every day (email, WhatsApp or
FB messenger)

Let me know what you think.

Cheers,

Marie

Marie,

That sounds great. We can take progress pictures daily but post once a week
so as not to be burdensome. If that works for you, let's do it I am not
sure I can get to the gallon of water per day myself! I don't FB, but could
try fitness budy. Is that an app?

Thanks.

Hi Allyson,
I'm happy not doing a photo a day as I wasn't planning to take photos of myself, just food etc. I'm more interested in doing a daily check in that I'm following my own challenge guidelines.

I don't know how to use Fitness Buddy.

I thought it might be easier to just email each other than trying to use a new app. But I've just created a private group on Fitbit which might work. I've tried sending you a friend request so I can add you to the group, but it keeps coming up with an error. Can you send me a friend request and maybe that will work.

If not we can see if the community can help or just stick to email. I've cc'd myself into this email so you will have mine. Then you can answer using that if you like.

Cheers,
Marie

I like your list of buddy criteria 😊  If you would like, I would be interested in being your fitness and weight loss buddy.

Hi Cath,

I also responded to Idlewylde to be her fitness buddy - so there are three
of us in this together! 🙂

Hi Allyson and Cath,

I've set up a group in the Fitbit App called Virtual Fitness Buddies but at
the moment due to a fault in the Android App I can't receive or send friend
requests. Will have to wait for an app upgrade.

Can we figure out another way to communicate so we can get started?

Communicating this way is too cumbersome. Can we figure out a way to share
our personal emails using some other direct message system? I have Facebook
Messenger and WhatsApp. Not super tech savvy so not sure what the other
options are. Any ideas???

Cheers Marie

Hi Marie,

I don't use social media, but happy to provide my personal email -
allyson11156@gmail.com. I used to use What's App, but haven't in a long
time. If that's the consensus, I can reactivate. I hope we are all looking
forward to the challenge starting today.

Thanks!

Hi Emili,

How do I find the Get Inspired board? I've tried searching the Community but nothing comes up.

Thanks, Marie

Here you are (it’s actually "Be inspired"):

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Be-Inspired/bd-p/greet

There is a navigation bar at the top: Community > Health & Wellness > Get Moving

Just click one level up (Health & Wellness).
