Hi everyone. I just wanted to invite anyone who would like to join to a marathon that some people in one of my Activity Groups has started...
We are planning a marathon to be held in October of 2016. This "Make it Your Way Marathon" was an idea originally conceived by a group of FitBit users who were walking to lose a significant amount of weight. Because many of us are not able to walk a marathon without stopping but are interested in challenging ourselves on a daily basis, we came up with the idea for THIS marathon. For the "Make it Your Way Marathon", we are NOT expecting ourselves or anyone else to set out to walk 26.2 miles without stopping. If you "make it your way" you can walk the 26.2 miles ANY WAY YOU WANT to...break it up into segments however you like. Do it where ever you want to do it...indoors, outdoors, in your house marching in place, Zumba steps or a combination. It is totally up to YOU! The idea is that it doesn't really matter HOW you walk your 26.2 miles but that you DO walk your 26.2 miles.
It would be a really unique marathon because
1) it would be international
2) it would be comprised primarily of people who have lost around 100 pounds or more and
3) it would be occurring simultaneously in many time zones with people who can all communicate with each other via modern technology (via this page or through FitBit)
