I run 2 or 3 times a week now but did run a 1/2 marathon when I was 65. I have always had it in mind that I would run a full Marathon when I was 70. I will be 69 in October of 2019.... Trying to decide if a full is realistic or if I am just starting to whimp out thinking of doing the 1/2 instead. I don't run fast.... I ran the 1/2 in 2:30 minutes. Thoughts? I hate to give up on my goal too easily.

I think sometimes being part of something like that is more important than the time or actual distance. I think you should train, talk to your doctor, sign up and be part of the experience. However you do, however long you go.. you were part of something awesome..

It sounds like you have good stamina and endurance already. Just make sure to talk to your doctor and once you get the all clear, go for it!

One other idea...a timed ultramarathon.
Twenty-four hours is the most common, but there are shorter and longer races. You can run and/or walk for however long you want or can, take breaks whenever needed and do it in a stress-free environment.
If you feel like quitting after 20 miles, no problem. If you do 20, take a nap and try some more, the miles keep adding up. These are very popular races for older runners and walkers, and many are very good at it.
I'm 61 and have done four of them. I am addicted to these and am preparing for my first multi-day ultra.
If you want more details, let me know.
