March Madness 2019 (last year - Don't Post)

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

It is the third month of 2019 and for college basketball fans the start of three weeks of hoop madness (beginning on March 19).  My Kansas Jayhawks are a little short-handed this year, but in a one-and-done 64+team tournament the luck of the draw often brings favorable matchups.  You just never know what will happen.

In the meantime, it is time to commit to another month of health goals.

How It Works

The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to keep track of your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.

Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”

Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.

Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total

Picture Scavenger Hunt — 3 pictures

Last month the theme of the photo scavenger hunt was to find three ‘odd duck’ type-photos, and we had several, with one being pretty literal.  Thanks @WendyB .  Though I suppose the goose might take offense to being tagged as odd.

March will be the last month of winter for most of us (and summer from some of us).  It is usually a good excuse for a mini-vacation, or maybe a big vacation, so the task this month is to get out of the house (or hotel), walk about and find three pics that represent play or relaxation — maybe people, or animals — swimming, skiing, hiking, sunning; or fun places, or places like tourist attractions, playgrounds, circus tents, festivals … [edit] Thanks @SunsetRunner suggesting funny hats as a subcategory for  the play and relaxation pics.  Sadly, your suggested name of Madhatter March for this month came a bit to late, but I've updated my profile picture with a funny hat.

Posting

Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week

Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Have to brag about our UPS delivery guy - yesterday about 5:30 pm I hear someone coming up the front steps. Went to the door and the UPS guy was ready to knock, so I opened the door and he hands me the package, then reaches into his pocket and pulls out a doggie treat and hands it to Jake! The big deal about this is that he parked by my outer gate and walked up to the house, my gate is 500' from my front door.

@benvegi  I have worked with UPS Guys for at least 30 years. They know their route down to the dog or cat I'm not surprised at all. I had a guy who would tell me all kinds of stuff. They see it all and know how to deal with it. UPS RULES!!!

I'm spending the week with my 4 yr old granddaughter, so my time with electronics is short this week. Trying to juggle her with my 9 month German Shepherd is sure challenging!

But I managed to get a good hike in on Wednesday before leaving the snow behind for the mud in Illinois.  There were a few small waterfalls along our hike, mostly covered in snow.

@WendyB We have lived in this house for 27 years and this is only the 2nd UPS driver on this route. The first driver was just as good. The Fedex guy just tosses the package over the first gate.

15/30 on steps, 10/30 on floors, 15/30 on miles, check in 5x   ooops lost my weights will add those back in later.

@benvegi  It's funny how they are so different. I think it has to do with how well they treat thier employees.

FedEx always had a big turn over

Ups didn't. I had the same driver at work for 20 years.

Fedex I think I went through about 10-15
