Apparently Fitbit decided to change how many steps it is for me to do 5 miles. As long as I can remember it has been 12,134 for me. Now they want to do over 15,000 steps. So now I'm not in the green, they have pissed me off.

I would try the restart as Wendy suggested and double check settings. The only time it wants more "steps" for five miles is on the elliptical. Its one step for every up/down. Otherwise 15K is closer to 7 miles. I hope you get it straightened out. If you noticed when this started, think about all other things that were happening around the same time. Did your phone update (its showing one thing in the app, another on the tracker) or a firmware update for your fitbit- something that could have changed settings or somehow altered the formula...

What Fitbit model do you have? Unless its firmware was recently updated, I don’t really see how Fitbit could have made any change to the relation between steps and distance. Unless you’re using a model that has built-in GPS (Surge), or one that supports Connected GPS (e.g. Charge 2, Blaze, Alta), distance is just step count x stride length. If you haven’t changed your stride length, distance should be calculated the same way.
