Modest August 2022— Step Challenge and Photo Scavenger Hunt

The end of summer looms and there are only a few more weeks for a getaway or two before we move into fall. Maybe not every day will be a big exercise day in Modest August, but you can get a good walk in just about anywhere and any time. So plan a little exercise and post your goals here.

                                     

How It Works

The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to encourage you to set and hit your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.

 

Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”

 

Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.

 

Suggested Posting Format    
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total

The theme this month is water in any form. My friend @NellyG  suggests Clouds, rainbows, rain, hail and snow.  But waves, gardenhoses, birdbaths, squirt guns, and even pictures of water are all good.

Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week

 

Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Intermittent Fasting: 26/31 days

2000 Calorie Limit/Day: 25/31

IF Daily (12 hr weekday/16:8 weekend): 26/31

Weights 2x/week: -/8

Stretch 4x/week: -/16

Squats 30/day: 4/16

Lose 3 pounds: --/3

Photo Scavenger Hunt: -/3

Total Steps: 311,543/450,000

Hello @Vidd Did not see the patterns forming, borrowed the picture from someone who had it posted because it was very interesting and had happened here locally, we still have no answer on why the formations.  Big secret I guess 😉

OH my gosh .. don't log in on the computer very oftern - and  I have problems in 'finding' this location... I usually just use my iPhone and I cannot find it from the phone at all.... sorry .. guess I should have dropped out earlier -

Hello @Baltoscott   I forgot to mention at my update Aug 24th that I found out I am not invincible.... Covid found me and I was out for a few weeks but tried to keep some steps going.  Feel much better and made up for my steps and finally got a bike ride in over the weekend.  😉

 

Update @ Aug 28th

 

Steps for the month of August=   359,879/404,000

Biking Kilometers for the month of August =  12.28/44 Kilometers 

Pounds to loose =  1/5 lbs  (have a cruise in Jan...better start getting my act together)

6 cups of water/day=   12/20 days

Scavenger Hunt pictures =  5/3  

Read 1 book=  /1  (almost done)

Yikes....September already.  Looking forward to another month of kicking it up a notch.  Thank you @Baltoscott for creating these monthly challenges.  I hope I am speaking for everyone else that joins, these are very much appreciated as it gets me up and moving.  Will be posting soon on what I would like to accomplish for "Stomping STEPember"

@4DB -- I've managed to avoid COVID, but several friends have come down with it recently, and many have had lingering symptoms. Glad you are feeling better and maybe you can push it a little more in STEPtember.
