Hi everyone
I got the fitbit flex about 2 weeks ago and I'm on the weight watchers points system. Everything syncs perfectly and the fitbit has been challanging me to move more. I work at a desk all day and wasn't surprised to see I'm not very active during that time. I started walking up and down the stairs in the bulding about 3 times a day just to get 2,000 steps in by 5pm (end of work day).
2-3 times a week I go to aerobics class in the evening and manage to hit 10,000 steps.
On the other days I work as a hostess in the evenings and sometimes get anywhere between 5,000-8,000 steps. by the time I get home it's late and I'm too tired to make another 2000 or so steps to make the goal.
What can I do to increase my activity level/ steps while at the office? I can't be away from the desk to long.

I shoot to have 2,000 steps in before 7:30 in the morning (used to be 9:30 - and that was so successful that I moved it up), and 4000 by 11.
I walk in place whenever I am waiting for something - printer, phonecalls, computer download. I pace when I am on conference calls (phone calls, in general, actually).
I park further away, and walk to the building. (Errands, too.)
When I am tired, I remind myself of how much more energy I have (especially when I do get my steps in) - and will have, in the long run!

I shoot for 10,000 steps a day too. I work in IT at my employer, so when I am needed for something in the building I try to take the long way around. Usually I shoot for 5,000 by the end of the work day. On non gym days\nights I just walk around my apartment until I reach 10,000 steps.

Get up every hour and walk around for 5 minutes. Park far away.
If there are floors that you are doing. Go up them to go to the bathroom on the next floor. Or go up them to get Water.

I always go for a walk at lunch time, even if its raining I go into a store and walk right too the back and right round the store, even going upstairs if there is another level.... Even though I don't like shopping I find its a good way to easily clock up some steps...in the summer I plan to walk round the park ☺

I take mental break walks as often as I can. I work in an office all day as well. I take a 5 min break from my desk as often as I can to refocus my eyes away from the computer monitor. Also on my 2 15 min breaks, I take a walk outside and get about 1100-1500 steps per break. And i often walk on my 30 min lunch as well getting from 2-4k. Lately as it is getting colder (yes even in SoCal) I walk a lot less. But I do park further away at work, or wherever I go. Easy way to get a few hundred steps.
Also it helps having a toddler to horse around and play with and run around the house. If I make it a habit to get my blood pumping as early in the day as possible, it is easier to stay moving. But like I stated, for me, as it gets a little cooler and colder, I move less... Need to fix that.
