Hi all,
i have just purchased the FitBit Coach App and am so dissapointed. :-(. I am 62, overweight and have some knee issues...nothing heavy. I cant even get through the Fitness test which is clearly designed for the under 40’s .. i purchased this Premium version because it promised personalised workouts. This doesnt feel at all ‘personalised’. The oppposite in fact. I am telling myself doing this fitness test might even be dangerous for a client like me without a warm up first and way more support. I feel angry amd dissapointed and wish I could get my money back..... or find the stuff I need to support me.
can anyone help me? I am hoping that I have missed something or am not using the App properly.

Once you have done the fit test you cant go back and do it again, which is a shame because you often dont understand what you should do especially if you cant do an exercise. But as I said before it doesnt ,atter that much as you can rate the exercises as you go.

hi @ElkieD and welcome to the forums. I think it becomes personalized with use. I am not the expert by any means, but I think like with any "app" it needs to get to know you before it can deliver exactly what you need. Right now, it doesn't know who you are or your fitness level so it can't give you workouts... I think @NellyG has some experience with the premium version.... Nelly, what do you think?

@ElkieD As @emili says, I have the premium version and I quite like it. I am also over 60 (further over it than you are!) And struggled with the fit test too, but that doesnt matter. All you have to do with the test is what you can and rate the exercises as they are for you. If something is too hard dont do it. Anyway it doesnt matter a great deal how you did on the fit test because you can continue to rate exercises as you do them and if you rate them too hard then next workout that muscle group will get easier exercises. After a few workouts the app will 'know' your level. What they mean by Personalised Workouts is that you rate the exercise and next tkme it will be easier for that muscle group (or harder of you rate it too easy). The app slowly increases the difficulty of the exercises it gives you, but if anything is too hard either modify it (for example I have a shoulder problem and cant do push ups so modify them to pushups from the knees) or dont do it if it is going to cause damage for you.
Let us know how you get on.

I don't have any input on 'Fitness Test', I haven't noticed it on my app. I'd just like to suggest low impact exercise such as cycling & cross country skiing. Of course the old standby walking is also low impact.

@NellyG.. thank you so much for your reply. I think it is spot on with how the app works and what one could get out of it...

Many thanks for your reply!
For all the replies by the way!
I am especially grateful,to have learnt more about how the App itselfcworks and that I need to rate the excercises myself :-). Haven’t discovered that yet - oeps!
I finally customised the fitness test myself just by doing everything ‘smaller” ..however dodnt rate any of the excercises so haven’t used the potential here. Will see if I can go back and get that sorted.
happy new year by the way.

Hello Nelly,
I am pretty new to Fitbit (InspireHR and premium) and wonder if there is a group for 60+ Ladies to discuss fitness and exchange exercise tips. I am a regular gym exerciser but am missing a kind of peer group.
Be well,
Anna

Hi everyone who has so kindly responded to my original, post.
what has finally worked for me is walking, walking, walking. :-). Nothing more than that really..though every now and then I do some sit ups or stretches from my dancing days.
I started losing weight using the Noom App in december 2018 and weighed in at 96 kilos. By completly changing my eating patterns and attitude to food in combination with 10,000 steps a day minimum, I now weigh in at 61 kilos and feel way better.
sadly, Although I paid for a year I dont use the Fitbit Coach app. The normal fitbit app I use to track my food, fat % and weight.
i had a way better experience with Swork, another App, which I enjoyed...and still didnt use enough to make it viable. I walk when its try and go the gym to use the walking machine when it is pouring 🙂
not everything works for everyone, eh? I also found some helpful free stuff online ..like to Jane Fonda work out for the iver 60’s that I found on YouTube.
warm wishes to all,
elkie

Elkie,
35kg - that is sensational. SO funny that you mention the Jane Fonda workouts ... I just came to them some weeks ago when a fab looking 75 lady told me that she is still doing Jane's advanced workout every day. I tried it but the pace is too quick so I cannot do the moves in a controlled way and we know what's happening then 😉
That is actually why I would like to have a group of 60+ers . To share and learn what it still possible at our age and to gently push the limits and I guess stopping the decrease of muscle mass is the key of the game.
Best wishes from a "nearly neighbour" from Belgium
Anna

Hi Anna, I know this is an older reply but did you find a group of 60 age group to join you on FitBit?
