Hello Fitbit Users,
I was thinking today of sayings and quotes that motivate me when I need encouragement to get out and walk, continue to eat right, etc. I'm not claiming credit for any sayings, they may be borrowed from times when I have joined weight loss groups, but they have stuck with me and help me on days like today when I just want to pig out.
If you have any, please share with the group.
"Nothing tastes as good as thin feels."

There are only two options regarding commitment; you're either in or you're out. There's no such thing as life in-between. - Pat Riley

Great quotes from those that have found what works for them. I taking long walks even when it is hot I think of 2nd Timothy 4:7 which says "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith"; this
says much about commitment to not giving up or giving in. Should we not all be commited to our health- we deserve it and someone above thinks so too:)

WWcow107,
I don't get it with the verse. "I have fought a good fight...", That indicates the weight loss/get in shape/be healthy fight is complete? Don't know about you, but I am pushing hard every day to keep myself motivated to 1. not overeat, 2. make my 10K steps, 3. get in shape, 4. lose weight, etc.
Whatever we use to help us is good.

Mine is in my signature line, "if you always do what you always did, you get what you always got."
It reminds me that if I don't change things (getting more exercise, loosing weight and getting more fit) my health will not improve. As an individual with a heart condition, I refuse to give up and die.
I plan to live forever, so far, so good..... (the last quote was stolen from Stephen Hawking)

Mine is really about running but, arguably, about life in general as well.
"It's very hard in the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants you to quit." ~ George Sheehan

❝it's difficult looking in the mirror and knowing you're not fit.
working out and eating right is also difficult.
pick your difficult.❞
If you're ever in a workout and feel like giving up just say this in your head
❝Sore today strong tomorrow❞-Blogilates
also I do not personally think the quote ❝Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels❞ is an appropriate quote because people can be skinny and be unfit, and people can be meatier and fit. People come in all different body shapes and the most important thing is that you are healthy and fit. Not that you fit societys expecations of thin.
Just strive to be the best version of you. Strive for fitness.
Good luck on your fitness journey!

xchrist,
After putting the "nothing tastes as good as thin feels" up, I googled it and I see there are others that also criticise and say its not appropriate. Some say it encourages anorexia!
I say, opinions are like belly buttons or other body parts we will not mention, everybody has one. For me, it's a great saying because the only time I am thin is when I am eating right, exercising and fit. No, I will never have 6-pack abs, but I don't want to use laziness as an excuse for being overweight either.

I think you have to use what works for you. I admit, I do see a lot of lamenting over those last 5 pounds, and I don't think it's necessarily good for your head. How healthy is it to spend hours and hours each week worrying about how to ditch those 5 pounds when you could be fully immersed in doing something you enjoy? Ironically, it could be excess cortisol from stress that makes your body hang on to that tiny bit of extra weight with a death grip.
There are things you do for your body and things you do for your head. Hopefully a lot of them are the same, but sometimes you end up with a compromise for sanity's sake.

Im fed up of getting to summer and thinking 'next year i will be wearing shorts' or at christmas promising myself a lovely new outfit only to get to next year and be just the same so I keep saying 'Don't let today's choices be tomorrow's regrets'

So when I'm out running, particularly my longer distances, I don't give myself the option to give up. I do the same thing in the gym. Yesterday I didn't want to go - "So WHAT?!" I told myself. When I'm running, it can get pretty hard. I can start telling myself, "this is hard...this hurts..." and then I remember that giving up is not an option so I say "So WHAT?! Get over yourself and get it done."
If I eat the wrong things and the weight creeps back up or my definition goes away and I start getting mad at myself for indulging, I say "So WHAT?! Get up and get your butt to the gym then."
And if I'm really really sore and "So WHAT?!" didn't work, I imagine Joey from friends telling Phoebe "You CAN'T give up! Is that what a dinosaur would do?!" LOL!!!
Seriously, you can't take yourself too seriously, you have to allow yourself your non-perfection and you have to move forward - continously and consistently. Don't let giving up, stopping, or delaying be an option. I don't know who said it, but I use it alllll the time "YOU ARE YOUR OWN MOTIVATION." I talk to myself on a regular basis and though it might seem crazy to others, I've got the results to prove that it works.

My personal favorites are (and I take no credit for these):
"There's no point in living if you can't feel the life"
"Live for the moment"
Life is too short to criticize, obsess, and dwell. Make healthy a lifestyle but don't beat yourself up when you slip up one day by not going to the gym or eating that one thing you probably shouldn't. Enjoy it but make a note to yourself to work a little harder next time and push through. Things happen, we're human, we all falter, that's life. You just have to move ahead and learn, adapt, and grown.
