I'm 76 years old and have always maintained a weight of about 175 lbs. My daily routine has me going to the gym for two hours and walking 1.5 miles on the track (can't do more because of my bum knee) and using the recumbant bicycle for 5.35 miles or 30 minutes. Have a bad right arm that doesn't swing well and always hold on when using the track. Therefore, my routine, including an hour using other exercise equipment, hardly registers on my dashboard. Is is possible to enter this repetitive procedure permanently in my daily activity log? Not going is more the exception. The same thing is true of sleep hours, the same every day, go to bed at 9 pm and arise at about 4:30 am with a half hour nap during the day.
It is important to me to track my heart beat. I purchased from Fitbit for $50 on 12/14 a heart beat
addition, but it hasn't been added. (Reported to Fitbit on 1/1 and have a tracking number.)
Overall the purchase of the Flex model has proved less than useful. But that is due to lack of flexibility in recording user data and poor communication of instructions. I'm still unsure of how to confirm that I have gone to bed or arisen!!
Convience of use should be Fitbit's goal.

From the manual (p. 23/37):
To enter sleep mode, tap your Flex rapidly for one to two seconds. Your Flex will vibrate and display two slowly dimming lights to indicate that sleep mode has begun.

When you wake up, tap your Flex rapidly for one to two seconds to exit sleep mode. Upon exiting sleep mode, your Flex will vibrate and flash all five LED indicator lights.

What "heart beat addition"?! I'm not aware of any Fitbit device that tracks heart rate for the time being. If you absolutely need heart rate tracking, you probably bought the wrong product. Products you may want to consider for that are the Polar Loop, the Basis B1 Band or the Mio Alpha.

You can manually enter heart rate information on the Heart Rate tab, but none of the Fitbits have the ability to detect or record your heart beat information. Those of us who track heart rate information do so by wearing a Heart Rate Monitor strap and watch.
