I've started playing Ring Fit to help me exercise during autumn/Winter as I'm not going to like going out on walks etc when it's cold and raining. Has anyone actually heard/had any success stories with this game?
I'm using Fitbit to lose weight and to eventually tone up a little and ring fit seems to be the perfect mix of cardio and resistance to help me do that. But it's hard to believe that a game can help me get there (I'm dieting as well as exercise).

@davidallan -- are you liking Ring Fit. I bought it when I got my Switch a while back but became immersed in the Zelda game and never got around to using Ring Fit. It still looks like could be an engaging way to get some exercise when you can't get outside, so I'll probably start playing it as it gets colder this year.
As for losing weight, I think it's 90% developing and maintaining good eating (and drinking) habits. Daily exercise is necessary to maintain your quality of life, but ramping your exercise load up enough to lose significant weight is usually counterproductive. Not that I haven't tried that in the past. At one point in my life I was working out 3-4 hours a day and riding my bike 800-900 miles a month. And I was on a strict low carb diet. That was doable and even enjoyable for the six or so months toward the end of my last year in law school while I was preparing for my bar exam. And I lost a lot of weight! But the next year, when I was a working 50+ hours a week, the exercise dropped to my normal level (about an hour a day), and I started eating with my wife and friends again. After about a year, the weight was back and there was more to follow.

I'm loving ring fit, not loving the soreness though! I've been enjoying Breath of The Wild as well.
I'm an undergrad student, so I find Ring Fit can fit in well, with most sessions being between 20-40 minutes depending how far I want to push myself. But the game is getting me into more intense exercise as my typical exercise before Ring Fit would probably be roughly a 40 minute walk.
My danger is that I'll overeat due to stress from undergrad workloads.

Yeah. I can see where a few of those 20-40 min sessions on Ring Fit could be a good break from writing papers and prepping for classes and exams. Try to avoid eating while you study and if you study into the night plan a late meal of real (not junk) food that you can look forward to so you don't snack along the way.

Great topic, thank you for sharing, @davidallan!
I'd love to try Ring Fit Adventure with the Switch! I've been trying mostly some apps on the Oculus Quest 2, like Supernatural, FitXR or Beat Saber, and they do help to lose some weight. 😀
