Hey All!
Looking for some advise from some San Diego locals or people who visit there frequently. I am traveling there for work and I want to get my run's in and do not want to have to resort to the hotel tredmill during my visit. I am running in the Disney Princess race and want to continue my training and take advantage of the nice weather. I live in upstate NY and I am running in the cold now so the break would be nice.
My question is how safe is it to run along the water near Embarcadero Marina? and do any of you have any suggested running paths?
Thanks!

When I visit San Diego with my wife we always try to get a run in down by the water, either around Fiesta Island in Mission Bay which is a great little loop, or along the sidewalk that goes along the shoreline of Mission Bay. We also have run down on the shore of San Diego harbor in front of the Convention Center there is a great trail / sidewalk that runs along the water's edge and there are some great stairs up and down the outside of the Convention Center that will give you a great workout if you're into that kind of stuff. You can run right down into Shoreline Village there and stop for a bite to eat at one of the water front resturants.
I would suggest that you stay away from some of the grittier areas of the water front, not that they're necessarily unsafe, but they definately leave a lot to be desired and there are many much nicer areas of San Diego to run in and around. You can also check out Balboa Park for some hill workouts and great views of the bay and ocean.
Have a great trip and enjoy the nice Southern California weather and tempertures.
