Set Back due to illness

Came down with a headcold last week and I haven't worked out since Wednesday.  Head is still congested.  I'm wondering if I should bite the bullet and get back on the treadmill tomorrow morning.  I slept a lot on the weekend and was very inactive and don't want to be that way for long.  I've made good progress so far and want it to continue.

Thoughts?

My advice is to get back into it once you are fully recovered, otherwise it won't be very pleasant and you might end up pushing back your recovery. Forget the treadmill for now and compensate with more frequent walks or some other types of less intense activities (i.e. strength training.)

Slow and steady wins the race! I'm recently coming back from a health challenge and eager to jump in with both feet but know that if I do that, I'll sabotage myself. I suggest start slow and build up from there as you are feeling better. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the feedback.  I woke up at 4 am this morning and when I realized I wasn't going to get back to sleep, I opted to do a low intensity walk.  Outside for 2.5 miles (the treadmill in the hotel was occupied even at 4:30am) and then 40 min on the treadmill.  In total 85 minutes for just under 5 miles.  It was mostly just walking and not super fast.  So far, feeling ok.

I've been dealing with a cold as well but I noticed that when I finally forced myself to get up and go to the gym, it actually helped me feel better ebcause the time spent working out helped the congestion to start moving.

Hope you feel better soon!

Make sure you get rest and get over the cold for the most part.

I also had a nasty cold that is still hanging on, 2 weeks later. I didn't work out for about 5 days and felt awful about it. I have mild asthma so working out with a cold it tough. I have slowly got back into my routine. Just take things slow!
