Share your favourite podcast stations!

Hi there 🙂

I have recerntly begun to enjoy podcasts as compared to music when on the move. Runs, especially those on the treadmill can get super boring, and I have discovered that podcasts are great for distractions and even learning something new.

There was an old thread on the same topic but it's from way back in 2014, so I was wondering if people would find it interesting to share the latest podcasts that's on your playlist. I am always looking for new ones, but here are few that I subscribe to:

TEDTalks audio, Millenial, Modern Love, A Couple Cooks, StoryCorps, and Books and Authors.

I'm into podcasts about books. Here's a few of my favourites:

  • The Book Riot Podcast
  • Books on the Nightstand
  • NY Times Book Review
  • What Should I Read Next?

Funny thing is that I enjoy the peace and quiet of nature when I am out exercising. The only time I listen to music is when I am forced to workout on the treadmill.

@Marten @Zimni Here are a few of my favorites:

  • I just started listening to Mystery Show which is pretty good. Case number two is definitely my favorite episode and I would highly recommend it.
  • The Tim Ferris Podcast is really good as well. His basic premise is that he "deconstructs world-class performers from eclectic areas (investing, sports, business, art, etc.) to extract the tactics, tools, and routines you can use."
  • You can't go wrong with Season 1 of Serial if you like a good murder-mystery story.
  • Marc Marron has a pretty good podcast too, my favorite episode is where he interviews Dax Sheppard.
  • Comedy Bang Bang is another good one.

I've listened to the Mystery Show before. It's good, but the time gap between new episode releases is long.

Season 1 of Serial is great (I couldn't get into season 2) and I find that the CBC Podcast Someone Knows Something has a very similar feel.

These are my favorites because they cover such a wide range of topics.

Yay, so many station recommendations shared between everyone.

Thank you @Marcy@Marten@DerrickS!

I forgot about the Mystery Show - it is super catchy and my favourite was the Jake Gyllenhaal episode. But agree with @Marten on the frequency of posts.

Forgot to mention StoryGrid - great for writers looking for insights into becoming authors.

Cheers!

I also love "Stuff You Missed in History Class".

My new favorite is "Great Detectives of Old Time Radio" http://www.greatdetectives.net/detectives/ Classic detective shows such as Dragnet and ones I was unfamiliar with like Boston Blackie. Very entertaining, and sometimes there are vintage commercials, too.

Working through "Spartan Up!" right now; when I'm caught up with that, it will be onto "Seal Fit".

Hi All:

I am a big fan of "How Is This Movie?" "How Did This Get Made" and "I Was There Too" which are all movie podcasts.

For true crime I like the True Crime Garage and Liar City.

I also co-host a couple of podcasts if you are interested..."Book Vs. Movie" where we talk about books and movies and the "Fit Bottomed Girls" podcast where we talk health & wellness.

@SunsetRunner I just discovered You Must Remember This. I adore it. I listened to the whole series about Hollywood and McCarthyism, and now I'm listening to the Joan Crawford ones. I keep meaning to try Dinner Party Download, but I haven't gotten there yet. I will be sure to check out the others you mentioned.

If you like Serial, Undisclosed is good, Truth & Justice with Bob Ruff as well.

If you enjoyed A Couple Cooks, try The Splendid Table.

What You Can When You Can is back after a brief hiatus.

If you want to try some language ones, Coffee Break Spanish and Coffee Break French are AWESOME!!

Great suggestion!

I've been enjoying it!!

I second all the suggestions of Stuff You Missed In History Class, but I am absolutely hooked on We're Alive! It is a zombie apocolypse story and whilst the episodes are short there are a lot of them. I always find myself spending extra time on the treadmill just to hear the next bit... It is a little creepy to listen to if you are jogging alone though!!

Oh I am going to check them out - both books and fitness spike my interest! Thanks @SunsetRunner 🙂

Some interesting titles there, I will surely check them out. Thanks for sharing!

For a dose of motivation, 'Dream Believe Do' is great for listening to the stories of normal people sharing their dreams and what they do about them.
