Should I remove my Fitbit Flex while weight lifting?

ANSWERED

So I bought a Fitbit Flex a few weeks ago and I'm walking to meet my goals.  I also weight lift 3 times a week for around an hour each time.  I see on the Dashboard website that I can add "Weight Lifting" manually for an additional activity but if I wear my Flex during my weight lifting workout, it's also tracking some of that arm movement as steps.

Should I wear my Flex during my weight lifting workout or should I take it off for the hour and track my weight lifting as a separate (manually entered) activity?

I would still wear it unless the added steps bother you. But it should be manually logged.

I wear mine while lifting, too.  I found that the added steps are nominal. I noticed that most of the steps logged are from actual walking around.

Hi,

I have a Fitbit One, and I wear it when i do weight training, but it is probably not as affected to "false" steps since it's on my waist, and not my arm.

I even log my weight training with the Endomondo-app which then post the exercise automaticly to the Fitbit Dashboard. I haven't checked how that affects the actual steps counted.

Basicly it's all the actual activity that Fitbit motivates us to do that count's, not what the Fitbit Dashboard say, but I know the feeling - running up the stairs in my house while the fitbit one is charging, feels a little "wrong", but I still ran up the stairs 🙂

No reason to remove, actually might be very helpful. I like to see my heart rate when exercise. My max never goes over 150 bpm.

Yeah, I leave mine on when I lift, too. The few false steps it reads are fairly minimal so I'm not that worried about it. Plus, like the guy above me said, it's nice to check your heart rate of doing higher intensity lifting, like a circuit routine for example
