Should you share your goals?

Below is a video I found quite interesting for several reasons. Many of us announce our goals on here, myself included, but there arguments out there against doing such. This short video by College Info Geek's youtube channel sheds some insight into the matter. Ultimitaley we hold ourselves accountable, no other person on this site holds you accountable. The video explains why this is the case. I hope this can help people on here that reach that plateu that they cannot seem to get past.

In my case, the reason I wrote my goals was to show any potential fitbit friends what my motivations are. for instance, weight loss isn't a goal of mine, but increased activity such as running is.

I agree that you are more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down, and unless you have a coach of some sort, then nobody needs to know them. I have very specific goals, which I havn't shared here.

I think like @NZuser that you should share your goals to your friends but i also think that you should not tell people you dont know very well or at all.

I think people sharing goals here is in an effort to connect and commiserate. I don't think its about accountability. The responsibility of meeting your goal is yours and yours alone. I am also not accountable to keep you on track and won't expect you to prove your accountability. But knowing what your goal is, I may offer a virtual hug, pat on the back or words of wisdom from a shared experience. I think its really an emotional thing rather than if I put it to the universe, I have no choice but to meet my goals. My opinion of course...
