Sit-Up

I started back in the gym and I'm doing sit-ups on the exercise ball. What is your technique that you find works, I'm trying to see what works but also what isn't going to hurt me. Do you sit on the very top and lean back, sit on the front and allow when you lean back to be laying on the top of the ball? Help this rookie out...

I use the size of exercise ball that allows my upper back/shoulders supported by the ball to be in a straight line with my hips, when my feet are on the floor at a 90 degree angle.  I sit on the ball and then roll it to my upper back.  I started with my hands lightly supporting my head, and keeping my head in line with my upper body (avoid neck strain/pulling on head),  contracted ab muscles as I crunched up.  As my strength improved, I extended my arms past my neck.  Then, later I added weight, first held to my chest and then as strength improved, held in extended arm position.  I additionally added reverse crunches, planks, side flexion exercises along the way.  Doing these in addition to full body exercises will give you a strong core.  Ab exercises by themselves will not.

You should not need to work your abs seperately if you are working out correctly. Are you using the right size ball for your height?? Probably easier to ask on of the gym trainers.
