Smash YOUR New YEAR's resolutions Start them today!!!

When I was competing I was lucky that most of my contests were in May but that one in December always messed me up.  I would compete early December, take a break for the holidays and like everyone made New Year’s resolutions, and in doing so always ether burnt January or lost February making this May show all the more difficult.  Here is the solution, start now and just keep on trucking.....((IT WORKED))

So today I keep going through the holidays starting in November.  A Goal that will catapult me into the New Years and beyond.

That is a great idea! I believe most of us "take a break" during the holidays, but the need to be healthier must be followed for the entire year and the rest of our lives!

Let's make the resolution to not to be "resolutioners" and do this!

This was really bad advice on my part.  I retract this thread and I encourage all of you to go about your way and make those New Year’s Resolutions as I know you will.  I also ((strongly)) suggest as with the up and coming holidays that you just take a break much like you all have done all year, just skip your workouts altogether fill yourself with plenty of junk food.  Put on 20-30 lbs. and make that New Year’s Resolution about taking the Holiday weight off and see how you do.  I have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about and with this please eat all the peanut butter cookies you can get your hands on.

I mean the idea of a year end push is just that you make up for what you have missed throughout year, avoid another horrific weight gain holiday season and be healthy year round, not just in January when Gyms are at peak capacity when your all there to get in my way but again what do I know…  my view from the couch  😉

I am trying to make LIFESTYLE changes not just diet and a bit more excercise.  To that end my focus is on a 30-40 year outlook.  Does not mean i will not enjoy a few drinks and nice meals in December.  But I hope to also do those things in moderation in March and July.

But what do I know, I am just a short old fat guy.

This is a wonderful idea!  I try to choose maintenance mode from Thanksgiving - New Year's and not push myself as hard to drop pounds, but just maintain what I have already worked hard to lose.

I agree @mlaccs! For me, being disciplined is a bit hard, specially with all the delicious treats December has to offer, so I try to balance my diet and exercise routine the best way I can so I can keep on enjoying both things. Like @jcham12 said, just enjoy the Holidays! Robot wink

Hi Jcham,  and I vote for your first suggestion, not your second.  Time is too short for taking time off.  I am making up not just for a bad year, but for several bad years, so I am grateful to be able to move again.  I am grateful that every day I can physically do more than I did the day before, or the week before.

Luckily, I have gym equipment at home, so if your second suggestion was to keep the gyms unbusy through the holidays, I won't be in your gym competing for equipment time.

Best of luck to everyone.

I am very glad to hear that you're working hard to improve your overall health progress @Strem2. Having gym equipment makes things much easier to get done since you don't have an excuse. Smiley Tongue

That's always my plan too @WendyB. But for me, it's like a budget, a moving target - I always make updates along the way. Smiley LOL
