Hi everyone,
When I socialize and that is without drinking alcohol my heart rate increases from 80 average resting rate to 100/110, just talking. I have never known about it but now with the Fitbit I can check my heartbeat whenever I feel anxious or high heart rate. .Has anyone experienced this?

anytime you are not at rest, your HR is going to go up by a little or a lot. Social situations would probably cause it to go up more than if you were browsing a store. Aside from the fact that you are moving, you might be laughing or raising your voice. Thinking about what you are saying and coming across will for sure raise your HR.. I don't think it is anything to worry about at all, but just for your stress level you may want to do some deep breaths or listen and observe first so you can "read" the crowd or situation. Mostly give your self a break.. 🙂

There are numerous causes of a rapid heartbeat but if you are talking about anxiety in general, that can be a fight or flight response. I would imagine socializing might increase your heart rate a little bit because usually when socializing you aren’t at rest. You might be moving around a little bit like doing hand gestures or standing while talking.

Hi, yes, that makes sense, I am an anxiety sufferer as well, so always making sure I say the right thing and making a good impression that can sometimes raise the heartbeat as well.

You worry too much. Therefore, your pulse rises so much. You need not be so nervous and communicate with people who you will be pleasant.

I have been noticing this a lot, too. A lot of my zone minutes are during meetings that I have to conduct at work or just general socializing. Not moving around at all because it’s virtual. I am late diagnosed autistic and have masked my entire life; especially at work. Seeing all this increased heart rate during work meetings is making me realize why I burnout so easily.
