Is anyone else noticing that all of their steps are not being counted? I started noticing that my steps were off. I've only worn it in the recoomended sites: hip, bra strap, collar of shirt. If you have experienced/experiencing the same issue or have some insight on this, please share!!!!

I assume you are using a One or a Zip.
Are you using an Elliptical? They are notorious for not registering well on the FitBit (no body shock to register). Placing it on your ankle or shoe will register the steps, but will also register them at a higher intensity.
If you are finding this an issue with regular walking or running, try the front of your waistband.

I noticed that not all my steps were being counted. I had the Fitbit One attached to the front of my shirt and transferred it to the front of my waistband, but am still having that problem. Do we have to step hard and heavy to have our steps counted? Today it was in my pocket. I wonder if it registered all my steps during the course of the day. I would like to be able to rely on the accuracy of this device, otherwise what's the purpose of having it!

Because it's still more accurate than any other non-activity device method to get your daily burn.
Your expected impact for a step is based on weight and stride length that is given.
You could be landing much smoother than expected and not counted if stride length is off.
Default is based on height, may want to test it at normal daily speeds for correctly with your own entry.
You would need known distance, treadmill easiest, and then walk at normal daily type speed - not exercise speed walking. Count each right foot that goes down. Then double that for steps for known distance done.
Perhaps a big Walmart or Target has those 1 ft squares as tiles. First stride along landing on every 3rd one, take your count of steps x 3 for total distance you will do. Then go back over it at normal pace and stride length, counting each right foot as I mentioned above.
Yes, you will be walking back and forth across their biggest distance 2 x. Yes, you may be seen and someone wonders what you are doing. Stick to your guns, people have done stranger things.
