Stomping STEPtember 2022 — Step Challenge and Photo Scavenger Hunt

Fall arrives this month — the start of falling leaves and cooler temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere (soon I hope - very hot now!), and new green warmth in the Southern. It is a great time to get outside, stomp around, and get your steps

How It Works

The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to encourage you to set and hit your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.

Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”

Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.

Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total

Picture Scavenger Hunt — 3 pictures

The theme this month is STEPS -- of course (It is Stomping STEPtember, after all).

Well how about that?Well how about that?Watch your STEPWatch your STEP

Posting

Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week

Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

Sounds like you are doing fine @kaynelvb. Takes a while to build new habits. Keep at it. Looks like I'll come up short on a few goals this month too, but I managed to pass the bike miles goal which I'm happy about.

@Heather-S -- You might still hit the step goal; you'll be close anyway. And you destroyed the Floors goal. No small feat living in FL.

Jayhawk is about two months shy of 13 years old. He's not jumping up for the frisbee like he used to, but as long as I throw it, he'll bring it back. Especially now that it is cooling off a bit.  Yay, Fall!

Since I joined in halfway through the month, I am doing this on a weekly basis.  My weekly goal is 3 days with over 10,000 steps per day, below my calorie goal of 1,400 daily, and three times to the gym.  In October, that might change to a monthly basis.

So far this week (starting on Sunday) -

walking 10K                    3/7

Gym                                2/3

below 1,400 calories       4/7

I will try to post every two days, just keep myself on track!

Kayne

PS.  September is done, now on to October.  I will do better; I have made myself that promise.

Complete as of September 30th:

Total of 500K Steps for September: 501,623 // 500,000

20 Days Over 15,000 Steps: 25 // 20

4 Days Over 20,000 Steps: 4 // 4

1 Day Over 30,000 Steps: 1 // 1

500 Floors: 629 // 500

Well I did it! It was a big push at the end since I was traveling for work and trapped on planes and in a car for hours driving, but I woke up early to walk on the treadmill at the hotel and after work I'd walk at a park nearby to get in my steps. I got home last night exhausted, so happy to be back home.

Well done hitting 500K steps @Heather-S -- I'm guessing hurricane Ian didn't hit your part of FL too bad or it would have been 1M steps! Another strong month @Vidd.

I hit my bike miles goal. That's the big one. So far this year I've beat every month from last year except for August. Mixed on the rest. See everyone in OctoberFest.
