Systolic or diastolic heart rates - What does Surge Measure?

ANSWERED

Hello Please sorry if this had been addressed in the past but which of the heart rates exactly does fitbit surge measure? The systolic or the diastolic? Or both? I see posting around keeping tab of both but do not understand how to get both readingd off my surge. I look forward to your responses pls.

Hi, @Buksy , I think you have confused heart rate with blood pressure. Systolic and diastolic numbers relate to blood pressure and the Surge does not measure that at all. It measures your pulse (heartrate).

@Buksy Your Fitbit measures the pulse only from its LED analysis of the blood flow in your capillaries. Nothing to do with blood pressure.

Thank you very much all for your responses to this post, I had erroneously assumed FITBIT was tracking my blood pressure and now realise from further research online that there is a core difference between heart rate and blood pressure.

We keep learning every day.

Is there any real-time all day tracker for blood pressure out there in the market? Please let me know.

Not sure how something like that would work. You need to apply pressure to get an accurate reading, and that doesn't sound like something you would want to do dozens of times a day.

There are wrist cuff BP trackers that you can wear more constantly, but I do not think they are very accurate.

I actually did a 24 hour blood pressure tracking for my physician once. Pain in the butt. Strap around my chest, small recording device on my belt. Only took it off for 5 minutes when I showered.
