I have the windows phone app only, and a great many of my steps occur inside a building at work. I know the app relies on GPS for at least some tracking [by which I'd either be invisible or standing still], does it also use the motion detector? I'm a janitor in a three story building, so I'd imagine it would come to at least a moderate amount of excercise.

As long as you have cellular service in the building and can sync your tracker with your phone via Bluetooth, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do it. I work at an airport, and some spots are very hard to get service. But as soon as I'm out of those spots and sync my fitbit with the app on my phone, I can see it recorded every step I took. Hope this helps! 🙂

Hi @dallen68 - I think you are saying that you use only the Fitbit phone app and not an actual tracker, is that right? I do believe that there is also an accelererometer that is in the phone as well, though I am not overly familiar with Windows phones. You might want to consider purchasing a Fitbit tracker to pair with your phone. That would solve your problem!
