Hi all,
I'm writing this on behalf of my Dad, Geoff. We are making a short documentary on his progress. Three weeks ago he was 155kg and barely moved most days, only leaving the house once or twice a week for shopping or beer. He was headed for an early grave. He has trouble exercising because of arthritis, back pain, a knee replacement, and multiple foot & back surgeries. Back in his heyday, he ran 3 marathons - with a personal best time of 3 hours 37 minutes! Since starting this new program, three weeks ago, he has lost 10.4 kilograms (23 pounds), is exercising every day with weights, stretches, and walking, and is counting his calories like a champ! Veggies and lean meat all through the day.
Today he walked 1 kilometer to the beach and went for an hour-long swim. Then he walked a km back. This was his first swim at the beach for years, despite living so close to the ocean in sunny Perth, Western Australia.
He's put in a mighty effort and deserves some kudos, I reckon.
More to come. The documentary will follow his efforts for about 8 months and his goal is to exercise every day, get out of the house and lose about 60 kg. Any tips from people of similar age/weight/injuries would be much appreciated.
Thanks ya'll.

That is awesome! not only are you sharing his story, but you are immortalizing his progress for him and probably giving him the kick he may need some days to keep going. The only offer of advice I would give is to listen to his body. If things hurt, there is a reason and he should pay attention and rest. Otherwise, cheers to him kicking booty in 2022!
