Two fit bits while exercising

My primary exercise is stationary bike. Fitbit on my wrist doesn't do a good job of quantifying that for me other than detect elevated pulse. I've just upgraded to a Charge 2 from Charge HR. I'm thinking of keeping the HR and putting it only ankle for my bike exercise. Has anyone done something like this? any tips for doing it. I plan only on wearing two fit bits during the actual exercise so I should not have to worry about duplicating steps.

How will the Fitbit app handle inputs from both devices, it is practical?

Hey, Moderators, you must have heard of this topic before?

TIA,

Kim

You will need to link the two devices to separate accounts.

I’m reading an article right now on Fitbit that contradicts what you’re saying: http://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1715

You can have more than one Fitbit attached to the same account, but I don't think they will both count steps at the same time. Disclaimer: I've had more than one Fitbit attached to the same account - I've never worn both at the same time.

I'm thinking that if you're goal is not to duplicate steps, you would want to put both Fitbits on different email addresses. Then take the one that you have attached to your leg during biking and transfer the information as an activity, rather than try to get it to transfer automatically. That seems to me to save you some trouble. Let us know if it works.

The best thing to do is try it. It should always grab the highest step count. This means all variances in step counts will be in your favor. This could net you hundreds, or even thousands of steps a day.

Let me give an example. My Zip currently reads 25,067 steps for today. The Charge 2 reads 25,471.  If they were on the same account, when the Zip syncs, it will reset to 25,471. Let's say the Zip counts more steps in the next mile. It will add the additional steps to the Charge 2.

I can't think of a scenario where you'd lose many steps.

@betpchemI have multi Fitbits on the same account.. Wear the One and Ionic at the same time..... this is to ensure I don't miss steps while shopping..

Before I open the App and sync I put one at least 40' away, sync and then reverse the process.. Sometimes it messes up and I still lose the steps from shopping.. Most times OK.

It doesn't duplicate steps... Fitbit algorithms try and sort it out....
