I am a trailrunner who spends a lot of time out on the trails where reception is not great and my ionic dies faithfully around miles 6-8 while using strava. I want to track my steps and use strava for my 100k next weekend and can only come up with deactivating strava from my ionic, which means carrying my phone. Defeating the whole purpose of the ionic, but still the only solution I can come up with. I am estimating a time of 18-19 hours of running so I am sure all my steps wont register either as the ionic is usually good (with out strava) for approx. 8-10 hours in the woods. Is there any recommendations as this data is great for training tactics and I really don't want to go to a Garmin since I have such a great fitbit family.
Thank you

I would ditch Strava for the run, and also temporarily disable anything on the Fitbit you can--GPS, notifications, etc.
It will be close if it can make it the whole race. I've had an activity tracking go for 18 hours, but that was with GPS off. Especially if the signal is spotty, it can drain the battery faster. I could see that being an issue with the run you described.
If GPS is on, I'm pretty sure it won't make it the entire time. You may want to take shorter runs of 1 hour with GPS on or off. Then just note how much the battery drained, and you can figure out how long it should last. Best of luck.
