This week winter is rearing it's ugly head here in the midwest. I have been useing the end of my lunch to go go get in a nice 10 minute walk on the trail by my office most days for the last few weeks. With winter setting in I am hopeing I can still get that lunch walk in. I am thining about bringing some extra warmer clothes to try and get out there most days but I now there are going to be some days taht are just to dang cold.
Thanks for listening to my monolog.

The cold weather is a challenge. I bought a down coat from Land'sEnd that is warm and there is room for layers. I added a layer under my jeans which helped during those single digit days we got in WI last week. A few years ago someone left some leather mittens @ the house - I have not been able to find out whose they are so I have been using them - they totally rock. I was walking 4-6 miles outside daily all summer and fall - happy me and tired, contented dog. I have been able to take a couple of longer walks daily so far but I am just accepting that I will need to add some indoor activity if I can going to maintain. Getting to the Y is no substitute for getting outside, for my mood anyhow. But ya do what you can do.

From Canada here...I usually walk for an hour a day all year. I prefer the cold weather...once I get walking and warming up. I find it more uncomfortable in spring summer and fall...never knowing just what to wear each day. For winter..I wear Hot Chillies. They are quite pricey, but you can buy other brands. They are warm, and skinny, and very light weight. I wear the top and the bottoms, then a shirt or sweat shirt, if really cold out, followed by a regular ski jacker, made of nylon, and jeans on the bottom, I wear mitts, a hat, and boots. I find that if I start before the season gets really cold, I will just grow into the coldest weather. My problem is after my walk...then I get the chills that seem to go right into the bone, and stay there until I go to bed and fall asleep. We got rid of our hot tub, and nothing else warms my up. I also have the same problem in the summer, which I can understand, due to sweating etc. I don't seem to sweat in the winter.
