Walking Speed?

I'm 63 and 6' 5" tall. My walking speed for the last couple of years has been averaging 3 mph. Since I got my Fitbit at the end of March, it confirms that 3 mph is what I'm doing. Sometimes a little faster, sometimes a little slower.

I'm curious what speeds all my fitbit friends here at the forum are walking?

It's interesting that a lot of walking websites tell me that my speed should be quite a bit faster for my age, but my current speed produces the HR I need -

Got it; I still find it hard to believe someone our size has a stride as long as your post indicated; how did you calculate your stride length?

My stride length is not 1,67m, that it my length. I think 0,75m is my stride length. Although it doesn't work with Nordic Walking and the distance. But I think it fits with the steps inside the house that are much shorter. So the average is 0,75m. I'm just thinking about the stride length for running. 0,9m seems a bit too long. I switched to shorter steps and more steps. I have to check it the next times, maybe I can see the foot prints in the wood.

I'm 5'8" and I can get up to about 4.7mph power walking.
