Walking on the spot without using arms. Holding on to something . Any advice?

I’m hoping to find a tracker that will count steps whilst holding on to wheeled walker / chair back to try and strengthen leg. I’ve tried 2 different types already. Went to exercise class today and watch type show 628 steps whilst there but not registered any since I came home which seems odd. Clip on type had a massive 60 steps!  Can anyone advise / try theirs out for me please.
A note also that if I punch the air whilst sitting they counted as steps !
be really grateful for help, Dolly

Hi @Dolly1am Unfortunately wrist worn trackers rely on arm movements to count your steps, so as soon as you introduce a waking frame, a stroller or a shopping trolley etc, the count won't be accurate. A clip on tracker should do a better job, but might be struggling if your steps are shuffled as a clip on tracker relies on the vibrations from your foot fall. If there isn't much vibration then it will miss steps. I'd suggest you try wearing a tracker on your ankle - either a clip on or one with a strap as it might pickup the vibrations from your foot better when it is right on your foot. Let us know how you go.

As an aside I am a ballroom dancer and find none of my trackers count my dancing steps at all well (as the steps are sliding across the floor and as smooth as possible). I found the only way for me to get a decent count was to wear it on my ankle.

Many thanks for this advise. I did try clip on but still didn’t record so given it to someone to try out. Also strapped the wrist one to good leg but no good either. I shall just have to count in my head - but might fall asleep as it’s like count sheep 😂. Son now using that one. Thanks again
