What constitutes a "floor"?

I received a Fitbit One for Christmas.  One of the tiles on my dashboard is "floors".  How do I go about counting floors at some place like my home, where we have 4 different sets of floors leading to our home, each at most containing 5 steps?  I know how I would count at some place like our kids' school, which has several flights of "typical" stairs, with up to 12 steps per flight, and up to 2 flights necessary to reach the next floor.

Thanks for your help!  Happy New Year to all.

Only One's and Force trackers count stairs, and I think the Ultra did too.  It's done by the tracker seeing what it thinks is a 10' rise in elevation, as sensed by a change in air pressure.  In homes, stairs are often less than a 10' rise, and you must be moving the whole time.

Thanks.  So it sounds like my One is just going to track the steps as steps I walk ( which is still a good thing).

Don't worry, "losing" a few floors won't affect your steps, calories or VAM's. Floors are just a bonus, an extra motivator.

The funny thing is I've "climbed" almost 20,000 floors in the nine months I have been using my Fitbit One and I'm hardly using any stairs (I live in a house in the country side and very seldom even see high buildings). This is because the area where I live is quite hilly, so my walks includes lots of ups and downs.
