Hi, I'm a new fitbit. Since yesterday, actually.
What does it mean "calories burnt" on my dash board? The figure seems a lot higher than what I've burned walking 5000 steps today. What else is included?
Could anyone help me with an answer, please?

From what I understand, EVERYTHING is included. Your body is constantly burning calories just by existing.
If you google BMR or basal metabolic rate, you m ay find something to explain this.
Just existing burns calories. For example, a 55 year old woman weighing 130 lb (59 kg) and 5 feet 6 inches (168 cm) tall would have a BMR of 1272 kcal per day . Those are the calories she would burn just by laying there and breathing for a 24 hour period.

I think your calories burnt is a rough estimate, you must use the numbers in comparing day to day. It gets trickier comparing yourself to other folks though if you keep in mind it a macro estimate and can still be useful.
