Through my research and personal experience for the past 4 years, I have found the main culprits are grains, especially wheat products, starches, and sugar.   When a person eats fish, chicken, some meat, vegetables, dairy(if tolerated), and fruit, the weight falls off and the bloating disappears quickly.  Weight loss takes a little while to begin, and then accelerates rapidly.  You could start by avoiding all wheat products, not just bread and donuts, but also pastas.  No potatoes, either.  Sugar is a total no-no.  I went from 167 to 145 (I'm 5'9") in three months by eating salad with olive oil and herbed vinegar, lean meat, much chicken breast, a lot of veggies, eggs, cheese, also NO rice.  It sounds tough, but I never felt deprived, and my hunger was satisfied.  Good luck.

Although certain foods may cause bloat, there is nothing you can or shouldn't eat that will target fat loss. Fat loss is an all over body process that occurs when we consistently burn more calories than we consume. We can't choose where it comes off through eating habits, diet or exercise. Genetics and age largely determine where our bodies store fat.

Limiting your added sugars and sodium and drinking plenty of water will help with fluid retention. If you notice certain foods cause bloat you can elimanate or limit them in your diet. Some people experience bloat from mild to severe food intolerances or allergies. You may want to limit your intake of caffeine. I love my coffee but too much makes me look pregnant. I try to limit myself to 1-2 small coffees a day.

Personally, grains do not cause me to bloat but broccoli and other strong green veg do. I'd rather put up with some mild bloating and get my greens in. I also had no problem losing 60 lbs in 8 months all while eating grains (and wheat! *shudder*) and have been maintaining my weight for a year. Everyone is different. Maybe try keeping a log of the food you're eating and your reaction to them to determine which foods may be triggering an inflammatory response in you.

Bloating can be due to any number of different foods - it could be a reaction to anything from dairy, to asparagus to sugar free drinks or chewing gum.  To find out you what are the triggers you need to keep a meticulous diary of every food you eat and look for trends.

As for fat....... its just not possible to target fat loss from a specific area on your body.

Bloating can also be caused by an enzyme or probiotics deficiency in your intenstines and be a digestive issue.  Bloating can be also caused by salty foods, vegetables in the roughage family, bananas and raisins, just to name a few.
