What is the top cardio zone and how do you get there?

What is the top cardio zone and how do you get there? I mean what excerise besides running will run your heart beat up that high. Is there specific high intensity workouts for the heart that don't involve running?

Why are you asking this?

You have previously posted that you have several heart problems. See your doctor about exercise.

There are several exercises and sports that will get your heart rate very high, but unless you change

your information about having many heart problems, it seems that you should not contemplate any.

ANY and ALL cardio exercise will get you up to that point if done intense enough - pick one.

Cycling, rowing, elliptical, stair climber, hiking with extra weight, swimming, ect.

Actually, high intensity workouts will get it up there easily, but usually can't be sustained, hence the reason why most high intensity workouts are only intense for short bit, then recover for a bit. But that usually not aerobic the, but anaerobic, so different effect, not the cardio benefit for the heart, but more for other aspects of the cardio system.

Also, that zone is a very rough estimate based on a rough assumption of your HRmax using your age.

More important, if above comment is true about heart problem potential, your specialist should give you your ranges for safety, not for cardio improvements the average body could benefit from.

moving big muscles repetitively for a number of times can get your heart moving ... easiest are legs and hips. chest and arms are a bit harder. try punching air as fast as you can ... most people get their arms tired before their hearts start racing, but you'll get there.

The top VO2 Max. rates (and likely high Heart Rates) are those of athletic Cross Country Skiers.

The top Heart Rates are achieved by athletic Runners (at 4 minute miles, or less), and others.

That doesn't mean that you (who have stated you have a heart condition) should do this.
