It seems that something is missing? While FitBit does a great job as a pedometer, it can't capture other health related issues that are relevant to monitoring fitness and health, i.e. a heart/pulse monitor. I exericse on a rowing machine and do other things that elevate my heart rate; all part of overall fitness that it would seem would make fitbit the total package for people concerned about monitoring their overall fitness.

I can see why Fitbit chose not to include heart rate monitoring in their trackers. You may want to consider competing products like the Basis B1 Band or the Polar Loop (see this thread about these), or use a separate heart rate monitor in addition to your Fitbit. Some apps (eg. Digifit iCardio) let you import calorie data derived from your heart rate into your Fitbit account.
