I took a long walk with a friend this morning. She has shorter stride than me and she ended up with 14,000 steps and had walked approximately 6 miles. I ended up with 10,000 steps and had walked approximately 4 miles, although we stayed together the entire time. I understand the difference in steps, due to our stride, but why is the total mileage so different? There is not a way to calibrate our stride length with this device, although it seems like it would be more accurate if it was. Any ideas? Thanks!

Distance=steps x stide length
As others have said, the walking and running stides can be adjusted. The default is based mainly on your height.
While you got 6 and your friend got 4, the question is how far you really walked, to see who's stide length needs to be adjusted

Also, be sure you're both looking at the distance for your co-walking time only. The devices show your distance for the entire day. She may have walked more than you before you went for your walk.
